You Can’t Put Sharon to Dust: Chapter 3

sharon-3

The next day they had an early start and head out of the house by 9:30. First, thcommon-death-departmentey went to the Common Death Department where the records of all deaths since it’s opening were maintained. The department had started 200 years ago and was sure to have records of Patric’s parents’ deaths.

When they went there, they were informed that his parents’ names were not there. This upset Patric, because when they had buried his parents’ bodies they had ensured that they informed all the Death Departments in US and some outside of US were informed too. They thanked the receptionist and left the Common Death Department.

“What can we do now?” Patric asked. He looked extremely worried.

“We can call the Union of Death and they will be able to check their database to figure out whether your parents’ name is in the records at any of their offices”, said Sharon.

Patric nodded his head and said, “Let’s do that. Let me get you the number!”

On checking with the Union of Death, they discovered that his parents’ names were recorded at none of the Death Departments. They had hit a dead end. Just when Sharon thought there was no other way to get the certificate, Patric’s eyes lit up and he screamed out, “Oh my God! We are tackling this the wrong way. Obviously we aren’t going to be told by anyone even if the records are there with them. Let’s head to the fast_food_mealBurger King next to my house and ask the manager there if he knows of any Death Department close to his store. I think I remember seeing one around there and I also remember visiting them to give them the news of my parents’ death myself as they were located so close by. We have either ways been at this since morning and I am starting to get hungry. We could grab a bite at Burger King once we speak to the manager there. He has been around here for years and he knows the area in and out. I think he will be able to help us with this!”

Sharon agreed with a nod of her head.

When they parked outside Burger King, they saw that the manager was not sitting outside. Patric walked in and asked a young boy at the counter to direct him to his manager’s office. They were guided into a small but neat cabin. Before entering the room, Patric ordered them some burgers and fries with Coke and said they would come to the table in 5 minutes. They kept their coats in a corner table and knocked on the door that had a sign board reading, “Mathew Perry, Manager”. A harsh and commanding voice ordered them to come in. Mathew turned out to be a soft-spoken person who only spoke with a harsh tone to strangers. He was very helpful and informed them that the Death Department they were looking for was just a couple of streets away. He gave them the address on a piece of paper. They thanked him and headed out to their table to enjoy their meal. When they requested for the bill, they were informed by the young boy from behind the counter that the bill had been taken care of by the manager.

They stepped out and got into the car and drove towards the Death Department, following the directions given by Mathew. They found it in no time and when they went in, they were informed that Patric’s parents’ names were on the record with them. The manager of the place introduced himself as Stephen. He then informed them that a man, 5ft tall, black eyes, brown hair and slim built, with S.F tattooed in italics across his neck, came in and asked him to delete those names. But he found it wrong to delete the names as he knew Patric’s parents’ personally. This man went to the Union of Death and got them to delete the records of his parents’ death from the database by paying them lavishly. Stephen seemed very angry and clenched his teeth as he spoke.

Patric recognized the person as Smither Francis from Stephen’s description of him. Once they stepped out of Stephen’s shop, they headed out to a nearby restaurant for a hearty dinner. Completely stuffed, they pondered what they should do next. Patric suggested, “Why don’t we ggraveyardo to the grave yard in which my parents were buried?”

“Ok” said Sharon. They drove to the graveyard in which his parents were buried. The graveyard was completely deserted as it was pretty late. No one was around for miles and all they could see were tombstones.

They were able to find the graves easily. The grave of his father was to the lwatcheft of his mother’s grave. His parents’ names were engraved in gold. They could not find a single clue in the graveyard. They only found Patric’s dad’s watch next to his grave. Patric picked it up and said, “Let’s take this to the police station first thing tomorrow morning. I suggest we go home and get some rest for now.”

They headed back to Patric’s and were soon asleep. The next day, they woke up early to a healthy breakfast made by Patric’s cook. They got dressed, ate and headed to the police station. The cops were unable to find any fingerprints on the watch. It looked like someone had wiped the watch clean of any fingerprints before placing it next to the tombstone.

Patric was pretty disappointed on hearing this. They stepped out of the police station for a coffee and discussed what they could do next. Sharon suggested that they revisit the Death Department near his parents’ home. They decided to make a quick stopover at Stephen’s store and then head back to get some rest. The day was pretty hot and they were tired from all the driving. When they reached the Death Department and walked in through the door, they saw a young man of about 25 years behind the desk. Stephen seemed to be nowhere in sight.

On inquiring, this boy, who was 5.5 feet tall and plump, told them that Stephen, his dad, was unwell and resting today. He also spoke to them of the man who came in and tried to get him to delete the records. He told them how his father had shooed the man away and how he had gone on to get all the records erased at the Union of Death.

Now Sharon was pretty sure that Stephen’s story wasn’t a lie. But she decided to test the kid to ensure that they were both describing the same person, which was Smither Francis. So she asked him, “and how did that person look?”.

The kid had a worried expression on his face as he went on to describe Smither Francis, 5 ft tall, black eyes, brown hair and slim built, with S.F tattooed in italics across his neck.

“Yes, that’s him!” Patric said.

“Do you know him?” asked the young boy.

“Yes, and no!” replied Patric, “I have never seen him but know him by his description.”

“Oh! Okay! Is he an enemy or something?” the boy in the counter, whose man was Nick, asked.

“Yes, maybe!” responded Patric.

The boy’s interest in this whole affair worried Sharon. Warily, she asked Nick, “Nick, why does this concern you so much? Do you know him?”

“I know him…” said Nick. As he said he said it, two well-built men came out of nowhere and grabbed Sharon and Patric, carrying them away. The men placed handkerchiefs covering both their faces. In no time, Sharon and Patric lost consciousness as the chloroform on the handkerchief started having its effect.

They were trapped with nowhere to go!

You Can’t Put Sharon to Dust: Chapter 2

chapter-2-graphics

alarm-clockSharon was startled awake by the screeching noise of the alarm. She opened her eyes slowly. The room was filled with light, next to her Patric sat with a tray of snacks in his arms.

Sharon was feeling much better, so she slowly got up. Patric asked, “Are you feeling okay?”

She responded, “Yes, and thanks for everything!”

“Great, now have some snacks with me and freshen up. After that, I want to give you some work. By the time we set out to tackle this work, it will be night. Why don’t you stay the night and we can start off with the work tomorrow. I don’t want you to travel alone or spend nights alone anymore, cause now anyone could be spying on us and may come to know that you are on this case. Once they know, they will go to any extent to stop you, and will not hesitate to kill you to do so! We could head to yours first thing tomorrow and pick up some clothes for you to stay here. Would you be okay with that?”

“Definitely I’ll be okay with that. Anything for a case! And thanks for allowing me to stay in your house.” Sharon said.

An hour later Sharon had freshened up and had eaten some snacks with Patric. They were relaxing on the sofa and Patric was just about to start telling her of the case.

He started, saying, “When I was a kid, my mother and father died. They were murdered. They were killed by one person, of that I am sure and that person is Smither Francis. But I do not have any solid proof to support this. Your job is to make sure it’s him who killed my parents. The people who I think are after me are:

  1. Smither Francis
  2. Daggy John
  3. Smitherine
  4. Nalson Dogwell

All these people are very intelligent and can be spying on us even now. So you better keep an eye out for anything unusual. Also, it is better to be safe than sorry! I wouldn’t want anything bad happening to you.”

“Alright, I’ll do my best to find the killers and bring them to justice”, Sharon said in an assuring tone.

“Brilliant! Now that we have a plan in place, do you want to head to the pool for a quick swim before dinner? We could swim for a bit, and then head for dinner at this Italian joint close by”, said Patric.

“Yes, Patric, that’s cool! Though, let’s wrap up dinner fast and head to bed so that we can get an early head start to our day”, said Sharon.

pina-coladaAnd so they head in to change. Patric had picked up a suit for Sharon to swim in, it was a pink bikini with white polka dots. The pool was pretty big and well lit; it was surrounded by high trees and a fence, making it hard for anyone from the outside to see the people in the pool. The water was warm and it was a lovely evening to swim.

Once in, Sharon took a couple of laps across the pool and then stopped to take a breather. When she looked up, the butler walked in and asked her if she would like something to drink. She opted for a Pina Colada and Patric asked for a scotch on the rocks. The butler retreated to the house and returned in five minutes with a tray holding their drinks. He came over to her and handed her the Pina Colada she had requested for and walked over to Patric to hand him his scotch on the rocks.

“When did you realize you wanted to be a detective?” asked Patric.

“Well, I spent most of my childhood reading Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Secret Seven and so on. I always wondered what it would be like to be in the center of an investigation, being able to solve a crime for someone. One Christmas, a family friend of mine asked me if I was serious about my wish to be a detective because he had a case for me. Though that case was small, it was regarding a jewel stolen from his home, it gave me the leverage and confidence to follow my dreams. I solved it; his daughter had stolen the jewel to pawn it for drugs, and after that he passed the word around and I just got famous with time!” Sharon said, as she reminisced the old days.

“Wow, I really admire your passion and drive, Sharon!”, Patric did truly look like he was inspired by her.

Sharon said, beaming, “That really is some compliment, coming from you, Patric. Didn’t you too have a lifelong dream to get into acting and had to fight your way up? I read an article in Today’s Juicy Gossip that said that your parents were completely against you wasting your life away with a career in acting and how you ran away from home to pursue your dreams. Is it all true?”

“Yes, that is completely true. For once, I found a journalist who wrote my story as it is and did not try to over hype and add drama to it just to make it more “interesting” for the readers” said Patric.

“Then you are the inspiration Patric”, said Sharon, smiling.

They went on to speak about their childhood, his work, and her detective cases. Sharon realized, that though Patric was a big star, he was still just like anyone else and so very easy to converse with. Soon it was time to head out for dinner, so they got out of the pool and went in to dress up and head out.

When Sharon entered the guest room, she saw a new set of clothes kept ready for her. She bathed and changed into a jeans and t-shirt for dinner. The restaurant they head to served lovely Italian food. Sharon chose to have a simple fettuccini in white sauce with mushrooms and Patric had a spaghetti aglio e olio. They ended their meal with a lovely slice of lemon cheesecake each. Through the meal, Sharon came to realize how important it was for Patric find his killers; to be able to sleep peacefully again.

They returned home after dinner and decided to call it a nighsleept early, as they were thoroughly stuffed. Patric wished Sharon a good night of sleep and headed to his room to sleep. Sharon lay awake in her bed for a while recounting the incidents of the day. She sure was glad that she had another case to solve. Slowly her eyes shut and she was swept into the land of dreams!

Chapter1 Graphics

Sharon was just about to put the first morsel of her food in her mouth, when tSharon on Phonehe phone rang. Sharon was 5.5 feet high and was very attractive. She gracefully walked over to the phone and picked it up.

It was a person she did not recognize; he introduced himself as ‘Peter’. He was breathing heavily and panting, and spoke in a hurry, he said, “Please come to Central American Bayport Airport {CABA}” and cut the call.

Sharon, shocked and perplexed, put the phone down. She put on her coat, picked up her purse, and ran out the door. While starting her car, she heard her mother like roommate shout out to her, “EAT YOUR BREAKFAST”. Sharon was an orphan but no one knew about it, except her relatives. She was very active and never cried!

AirportShe drove as fast as she could and reached the airport in a record time of one hour. Once there, she literally ran in, anxious to meet this strange man called ‘Peter’, who startled her as was just about to dig into a very delicious breakfast. In her hurry, she ran into someone and fell. She lost consciousness on impact as fell to the ground.

The next she opened her eyes, she was lying on a bed and next to her sat a young man. Looking around her, she sensed that she might have been kidnapped. She was startled, confused, groggy and question after question she asked her kidnapper, “Who are you? Where am I? Who do you think you are getting me here?”, were a few of them.

Her assailant listened to her calmly, and then said, “Please calm down and give me a chance to explain myself.” Sharon nodded, and he repeated the whole episode to her. Once he finished, he said, “I am Patric Steward…., before he could finish his sentence, Sharon asked him, “Are you the one who acted in the movie ‘Stephanie goes to town’?”

“Yes! That’s me. So I can assume that you can now see clearly as well, considering you have finally recognized me. Anyway, why were you in such a hurry?”, Patric asked.

“In the morning, I got a call…..”, and she narrated the whole incident to him!

Once she finished speaking, he said, “So, you must be Sharon Stone, the locally famous detective! I was the one who called you! Sorry?”

“Ya, that’s me, and I forgive you”, she said, getting up slowly. Patric pushed her back and said, “Don’t sit up! You need rest. You had a pretty bad fall and hit your head really hard.

“Buuuuutttttt, I am alright now”, protested Sharon.

“NO PROBLEM! You still need to rest it out. Sleep for anothersleep hour. Once you are well rested, I have a job to hand over to you Sharon”, saying that, he shut off the lamp which was the only source of light in the room and walked out of the room, briskly closing the door behind him.

As soon as he shut the door, she felt her eyes shut and she drifted off to the land of sleep…

The Adventures of the Sleuth, Sharon….. Coming Soon….

So it’s been about two months since I wrote anything, and I am completely excused for doing so… considering how busy I have been, planning my wedding. LOL! So for years I have detested attending weddings and now the time has come for me to get married. But no, I do not detest being the bride at the wedding. That is just my perfect dream come true.

Seeing other people planning their marriage and getting married, I have always imagined it to be super easy to plan a wedding (especially when you have a good 250 days to plan it!). Well, it’s not at all. When did my wedding go from being 250 days away to just 120 days away??? I do not know. Time seems to fly when you least want it to.

Anyways, for now the planning is going well and is on track and I am scheduled to get married on the 27th of Dec (WooooHoooooo!).

Now getting to the point – Starting this week, I will be taking you into the World of Sharon Stone – a character that I brought to life as a child.

Who is Sharon Stone? She is a creature of my imagination. A majority of my childhood I spent reading books like Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Secret Seven and so on, so it was inevitable that I would write a book based on a character who loved to solve mysteries, bring criminals to justice and so on. All this she would do, with some added masala.

So Sharon Stone is a regular teenage girl, with a tragic life, having lost her parents young. But a very few know about this! She lives with her best friend and roommate, who also is a mother figure in her life.

As it goes, I have written 2 books under this character. I will be uploading the first book, with one chapter every week. Here’s a teaser to get us started

What makes me, ME? What makes you, YOU?

whatmakesmemeSome may call it boredom, or lack of anything else to do, but I have more than often found myself wondering, “What makes me, me? How am I unique? What differentiates me from all the other people I know?”

youareyou

We choose to believe, that each one of us is unique in our own way. When I say we choose to believe, I say it because every one of us has questioned our very existence and wondered why people wanna be with us and whether it is a particularly unique trait that attracts others to us.

Well, yes, there is. There definitely is something awesomely unique about each and every one of us that is waiting to be discovered. Though I am yet to find that little thing about me, I know that I am going to know it someday and I will then know why people choose me over others.

Till then I will continue to be me, unchanging, unfazed and always proud of what I am. Because I know that today, no one can be me’er than me: me in my unique ways, me in my silly ways, just me all the way!

Embrace what God has moulded you into and be yourself without self doubts, because…

The things that make you “different” are the things that make YOU!

Happiest of Birthdays to the Jungle Boy!

Santosh, aka the Jungle Boy, turned 29 yesterday. It was an eventful birthday, starting with his surprise trip to Bangalore to celebrate the day with us, to me surprising him with a birthday dinner with his best friend, Mano and her hubby, Roshan.

Anyways, anyone who knows me at all, should know how bad I am in giving surprises and even receiving them! So the very fact that he was able to surprise me and I was able to surprise him on his birthday by itself was a miracle. So here is snapshot of the day:

Collage 2016-05-25 08_45_58

Unfortunately, some people have to work even on their birthdays. Such is the ways of the World 😛 Well, as Santosh toiled at work the whole day, I plotted and planned his big big surprise without his knowledge; and, come evening, everything went as planned and the look of surprise on his face when he saw who would be joining us for dinner was worth it all.

We had a good dinner at Thulp, complemented by the amazing banana muffins by Mano:

All in all, it was a good evening with friends. Will always be thankful to God for such amazing friends who made our day.

P.S: Our dinner was followed by a doughnut and gossip session with my lovely roommate, Heena.

Here is a look at the events of the evening:

Whom Then Shall I Fear?

Well, better late than never, they say. So, though late, here I go again. I just gained some insight into life that I would like to share with y’all. So a couple of days back, as I sat at office trying hard to work without any motivation, I decided to listen to some music to clear up my muddled head. So I put on my favourite online radio station, and guess what, the song that plays is “Our God” by Chris Tomlin. Now this is one of the many songs that I had only heard for the first time at church and today I am going to tell you how that song changed the way I perceived my life. Before I start, here is a link to the song:

For the past few days, I think I have been having the usual self doubts, fueled by the words of people who mouth off whatever random thoughts passes their mind. I am sure we all have a couple of people in our life who are always ready to point out our shortcomings. But why is it that we, who know and believe that there is a God that loves us beyond measures, fail to understand that our God loves every single thing about us and would never let any harm come to us.

Every single time when faced with a situation where I feel that I am not able to face or overcome it, I fail to realize that if I could just believe and ask my God to help me, that situation would not look so scary anymore. Anyways, same was the case that day, and when I actually listened to the song, I realised how silly I was to worry. Again, here are the lines that got me thinking:

God

It’s just these two lines that made me realise that when we know our God is for us, there is nothing that could ever stop us and if we believe that our God is with us, there is no one who can stand against us.

So the next time you worry about something silly like

  • Why am I not good enough? Am I not putting in enough effort?
  • Why is my hard work not recognized? Is giving up on my principles the only way to grow?
  • How will I manage a family? I don’t earn enough.
  • What if it rains? How will I ride home?
  • Am I smart enough for this?
  • Will I ever learn the skills required for this job?
  • Why can’t I look like her/him?

Ok, honestly, these are just random things that I am sure all of us fear and I am sure there are many doubts and speculations that run through all your minds. But the idea and gist of what I am trying to say is, that whenever these thoughts creep into your mind, just pray and surrender your worries to God knowing that He would find a way to relieve you of all your worries, because…

Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!

Well I am pretty sure that this is indisputable! Good day/night and hope my words have made sense to some.

Late Beginnings

Late beginning, but finally I have decided that the day has come to get started entertaining the people who will take the time out to read my blog.

Stay posted for a lot of fun reading material! I intend to fill this space with little narrations of incidents I witness on a daily basis.

I will also be uploading short stories, poems and images from my day to day adventures.

To get started, here is a few images from my awesome trip to Coorg and to Dubare Elephant Camp in Kodagu, Coorg during the month of December, 2015.

And I am back…

Yes, I went into hibernation again. As you know, I was busy being pregnant and therefore me being MIA is justified on many levels.

So first let me update you, Santosh and I were blessed with a baby girl, Thia Zidane Santosh, on the 15th of October. Here is a picture from one of the happiest days of our lives:

Our happy family
Holding Baby M – My miracle baby – Our Gift from God (Thia)

No words can describe the joy I felt when I held her for the first time. Now she is almost 5 and 1/2 months old, and she has become the centre of my world, no exaggeration!

So the past one year has taught me an invaluable lesson; and it is that God’s timing is perfect and all we have to do is have faith, be prayerful and wait upon God, because He knows our past, present and He is the author of our future.

‘He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. ‘ Ecclesiastes 3:11

‘He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”’

Matthew 17:20

When we pray even with the smallest amount of faith, God will move mountains for us! All we need to do is ask, and we shall receive.

Before I conclude, here is her adorableness:

I promise you, I am back this time and will not go on another long break.

Stay tuned for a lot more from my end, starting with the journey of my pregnancy and God’s wonderful works throughout.
